The Medici Effect and Distancing (Psychological, not Social)
Creativity comes from combinations of element. This is called the Medici effect. What is commonplace in one field might just be revolutionary in another, so again, redirect your attention to what is plainly visible already instead of seeking a moonshot.
Psychological distance is necessary for creativity because when we leave too much of ourselves in a thought process, we become constrained by arbitrary and unnecessary limitations. We are also unable to break out of certain perspectives, whether through habit, emotional investment, or reinforcement.
